2015 f150 stereo upgrade
You'll get a better sound for your money going with a DSP or nicer speakers than acrylic beauty panel amps, even if they look utilitarian.Īlso, for what its worth, I had a set of 670gtis (active) installed in the stock locations before i made the jump to a much more expensive 3 way pillar setup. Arc has some nice looking stuff for the size and price. I'm pretty happy with the noise rejection on the audiofrog amps I got (which are rumored to possibly be rebrands). There are several dealers that can get you a good price on a class D that would be smaller and more powerful. IMO while those SI amps are really pretty they're taking up a lot of valuable real estate in a truck cab you said was space constrained. It's the down fire, under seat box that will be my daily subs. Now, I also have 4 JBL GX1200's (that I bought new for a steal a few years ago) that I'm going to put in easily removable vented boxes for when I'm not hauling anyone or anything and just want to be stupid. and I just don't know if that's too much box volume for those Sundowns.

Like you said I'm pretty limited on box volume because I need them down firing and under the seat. Matching a pre-built subwoofer box to a shallow'ish mount sub has been my biggest research headache. Regarding a "large format tweeter" what size would that be? Is that a 2" tweet or 1"? Or can some 1" tweets be crossed lower than others? I'll look later and see if this Alpine head unit has the DSP available for crossing over tweeters. My F150 doesn't have the full console in the front so I'm all good there. I have the stock system set to "driver" and come to think of it, I'm not sure if I've ever noticed the rear speakers and so I'll opt for no rear fill. I have two 8's right now but am changing to a single 10 in 1ft cubed, sealed.Įxcellent, thanks therapture. Underneath rear seat area is limited to about 1.5ft total so pick subs that can work in the given space or go with a single 10. My Alpine S 6x9's are ran as pure midbass drivers and I run them bandpassed from 90-300/24db.

If you have a full console it creates a bass trap on the driver's side right at your knees and needs careful EQ and time alignment to center it. The less you put on the door speakers the better especially if you have a full console as it creates weirdness.

You need to be able to cross the tweets at about 1000hz at least to get your stage high easily. I run a wideband crossed at 300/24db slope. Get a large format tweeter you can cross low. 6.5's are ok but don't have the cone area of the larger drivers. Spend your cash on the front doors, run an 8 or a good 6x9 and seal off the front doors and you'll be able to have great midbass. The rear speaker is so close to your head that you'll need to massively attenuate them and run massive amounts of delay.
